As Ruth indicates, we need to turn around the perception that war tax resistance is an onerous burden. Even if you deal with one objection (e.g., the home ownership / wtr “conundrum”), people can always come up with one scary and paralyzing reason after another why one shouldn’t resist. Resistance is not some reflexively negative reaction to oppression; it’s an energizing, life-affirming opportunity to create a better world!

If for whatever reason the collection process becomes unmanageable, you can just pay the money and the IRS will stop because all they really want is the money not your house or car. And remember that there is the WTR Penalty Fund that will help you with interest and penalties. Although the Justice Department took me to court along time ago when I refused to cooperate with the IRS in the collection process I have had very mixed experiences over the years with the efforts of the IRS is to collect relatively small amounts of money (several thousand dollars a year usually) I have inherited some money this year and will likely owe substantially more next year. My immediate approach has been to begin giving away substantial amount of money. Redirecting resisted federal taxes has been the most enjoyable part of the process during the decades I have done this.
